Overview

Working professionals need to maintain their academic pursuits in today’s ever-changing environment. To provide high-quality care, nurses need to constantly better themselves in various ways (Cho et al., 2020). My institution offered this conference seminar for employees transitioning into leadership roles. Its goal was to aid nurses in moving from the front lines to the administrative ranks by providing them with the information and direction they needed to make the change. Not only did I learn a lot of useful information and take away some excellent pointers for becoming a manager, but I also got some excellent advice on how to deal with the inevitable difficulties that would inevitably arise. Some of the difficulties someone may encounter in making the jump to leadership from working alongside their teammates on the floor were discussed. It provided insight into maintaining a friendly relationship while establishing oneself as a credible leader.

The difficulty can be summed up by reviewing the class’s stated goals and questions. Such as:

  • What traits does a good leader or administrative assistant have?
  • While dealing with former colleagues, how do you maintain a healthy work-related relationship?
  • How can a newly promoted leader or administrative assistant win over their staff?
  • Understand the details of establishing and following through on performance goals.
  • Essential guidelines for being an efficient leader or administrative assistant.
  • How can a leader or administrative assistant improve their communication skills?

It was found that the most challenging part of being promoted to leadership is dealing with the unease of one’s teammates. Even if these friendships are important to us, it will be difficult for us to earn their respect as a leader or administrative assistant.

Solution

Conferences unite people in the healthcare industry who otherwise would not work together to advance patient care by sharing innovative practices based on the latest scientific research. Conferences provide nurses with the opportunity to learn about and apply cutting-edge, evidence-based practices that will ultimately lead to better patient care and outcomes. Having defined limits can help the move go more smoothly for everyone involved. Recognize the uncomfortableness of the issue as the first step toward a resolution. Transitioning from a team member to a leader or administrative assistant is bound to be uncomfortable and unfamiliar, regardless of how you get along with your former coworkers (Bryant et al., 2020). You need to own it, maybe even joke about it, but make it clear that you anticipate some initial awkwardness. You are the leader or administrative assistant; therefore, they need to know that things will be carried out a little differently from time to time. One alternative is to hold individual meetings with each member of your team. Meeting one-on-one allows for greater flexibility and customization of approaches than is possible in a group environment. This lets them know they can trust you as a leader or administrative assistant and gives them insight into your leadership style. A third option is to channel your inner courage. The fact that you were elevated suggests that others looked up to you as a leader. It is time to go on to the next level of advocacy in your organization.

Opportunity

In this meeting, we will also examine some advantages of holding a leadership position. Questioning oneself as a nurse, like, “What do I desire from my job, and how will I make a plan to accomplish this?” is a common experience. It is possible to advance one’s profession in a managerial position by accumulating and expanding one’s leadership experiences, knowledge, and analytical, consequential, and communication skills. If you are the new leader or administrative assistant, you can capitalize on this situation to foster teamwork. The transition period presents a golden chance for new management and coworkers to forge ahead, establish priorities, and outline a course of action.

Nursing professionals can expand their knowledge about healthcare evidence-based innovations by attending conferences and other academic events. Via the talks given by other scholars, I am able to familiarize myself with the newest developments in my field. The nursing concepts and the nurse’s responsibility in healthcare are further explored at the meeting. It also helps nurses in their efforts to boost community health and happiness (Saunders et al., 2019). Healthcare facilities can better manage their resources through collaboration with researchers and nurses, improving both the quality of treatment provided and the facility’s efficiency as a whole. The ability of nurses to make judgments, recognize solutions, conduct training programs, and empower themselves to create healthier surroundings is enhanced by their participation in scholarly activities. In addition, it facilitates nurses’ ability to communicate, integrate, and coordinate with interprofessional collaboration in pursuit of the ultimate objective of providing both high-quality care and efficient service.

Assessment Description

Throughout the DNP program, learners are required to provide a report documenting participation in a minimum of four scholarly activities outside of clinical or professional practice. Reports documenting these activities will be due in specific courses throughout the program: DNP-810A, DNP-820A, DNP-830A, and DNP-840A.

Examples of scholarly activities include attending conferences, seminars, grand rounds, participating in policy and quality improvement committees, writing scholarly publications, participating in community planning, serving as a guest lecturer, etc. Involvement in and contribution to interdisciplinary initiatives are also acceptable scholarly activities.

A summary report of the scholarly activity, including who, what, where, when, and take-home points, will be submitted as the assignment. Include the appropriate program competencies associated with the scholarly activity and the future professional goals related to this activity. You may use the “Scholarly Activity Summary Template,” located in the DNP DPI Workspace, to help guide this assignment.
