Varpio (2018) defines rhetoric as to how a person uses language or even images to persuade the audience. Through rhetoric, the audience can understand the content easily. Rhetoric is, therefore, a persuasive technique, and it helps to grasp the subjects’ attention to communicate effectively. I see and listen to so many forms of rhetoric daily. According to Carroll (2010), media is one of the most effective forms of rhetoric used. I use media all the time, mainly social media sites. Through social media platforms, I encounter adverts and news with a lot of rhetoric. When a person texts or calls me through social media platforms, I can tell if their message is persuasive depending on how they speak to me or formulate their statements.

One of the best ways to create rhetoric is using stories that will inspire others. It is also good to use stories, images, or situations to which people can easily relate capturing information (Khany et al., 2019). Following this, I always ensure that I analyze my audience to deliver content that they can easily relate to. For example, I try to get people’s emotions involved trout e use of sad or happy scenes.

A rhetorical situation that I have encountered while in school was when I was presenting a project. The exigence of my presentation was trying to let all students understand the main points of the project. The audience during the presentation included the students and my lecturer. My presentation depended on how brilliant the students were since if the students were bright, it would be easy for them to understand my argument. The constraints during the presentation included the students who were not paying close attention and some other students who would interrupt me through talking as I was presenting it. The constraints affected the students trying to concentrate, making it hard for my use of rhetoric to be effective.
