Advocacy Strategies Essay
Advocacy Strategies
Effective leadership is essential in every workplace. Advocacy helps to influence people’s decisions, and it also ensures issues of interest are brought to the people’s attention. An effective leader must have the ability to influence others so that it becomes easy to achieve the set goals and objectives. There are different advocacy strategies that I can use as a leader to create a positive cane in my workplace.
According to Nsiah et al. (2019), one of the advocacy strategies I can use is ensuring an excellent nurse-patient ratio. This will make it easy for the nurses to attend to all patients effectively, and the chances of burnout among the nurses will be reduced. As a result, there will be quality patient care; hence it will be easier to create positive changes in the workplace. Another strategy is to ensure that nurses have all the resources to provide quality patient care (Nsiah et al., 2019). Once the resources are available, the nurses will deal with various patients effectively, and time will not be wasted while waiting for these resources.
When I started working in psych, I was appointed the leader among my workmates. I provided leadership by assigning the nurses their duties and ensuring that all patients received quality care. One of the things that I ensured was that I had communicated effectively with both the patients and the nurses. This helped reduce any form of miscommunication among the two and cultivate good working relationships. One of the things I would do differently is encourage individual growth among the nurses. Once the nurses row in their careers, the more advanced they will be; hence, they will provide better services to patients.
