Topic 4 DQ 1
Understanding the healthcare system at the local level is crucial when planning EBP implementation for different reasons. Having this understanding is crucial in obtaining vital resources required in EBP implementation such as training opportunities, management support, and effective channels of communication. These resources play critical roles in fostering EBP implementation. Moreover, this understanding is crucial in gaining insights into the leadership and structures of local healthcare settings (Shi & Singh, 2022). Leadership support and organizational structures are always instrumental in facilitating successful EBP implementation. It is also noteworthy that important resources needed in EBP implementation such as human, materials, and financial resources are found locally in the healthcare organizations (Carmone et al., 2020). As such, understanding the healthcare system at the local level is instrumental in mobilizing and managing these resources for proper use in the planning and implementation of the EBP. It is also important to understand the healthcare system at the local level to assist in learning more about the existing organizational policies and cultures, including the culture of the local communities (Carmone et al., 2020). These aspects are vital in EBP implementation since they inform the understanding of the behaviors of important stakeholders.
The anecdotal evidence solicited from my course preceptor that will be considered in the change project is regulatory and ethical compliance. Nurses must adhere to regulatory and ethical requirements by operating within their scope (Cusack et al., 2019). Therefore, various regulatory and ethical guidelines such as culturally competent care and privacy and safety of participants will be used to steer this change project. Another anecdotal evidence to be considered is the involvement of local communities and agencies. Li et al., (2019) contend that engaging these stakeholders is crucial in developing a strong partnership and trust between them and the healthcare professionals, which is essential in facilitating EBP implementation.
