The identified issue within my organization is the management of big data. Big data has always been a problem to manage in the organization due to its complexities and bulkiness, which requires considerable effort and resources by healthcare organizations to collect, store, analyze, and disseminate to stakeholders (Dash et al., 2019). Healthcare organization often generates big data, which is expected to be disseminated across various stakeholders such as providers, patients, and payers. This can potentially lead to confusion and errors since healthcare providers cannot determine the accurate data to depend on in clinical practice. For instance, when a patient changes health insurance plans or healthcare providers, many organizations rely on self-reports by patients to produce their records. However, a patient cannot generate accurate data leading to insufficient data insights. Moreover, big data in organizations entails a combination of health information collected from various sources in different formats (Chen et al., 2020). This implies that there is no standard system to recover, store, and review data from various sources, which causes significant challenges to my organization.
The problem of big data management in my organization can be addressed by numerous steps. The organization should adopt the utilization of non-relational information technology to facilitate the use of data from various sources despite having distinct formats in the datasets used (Jajaga & Hasaj, 2020). This is crucial in leveraging patient data obtained from various sources. The other strategy is the adoption of data-driven decision-making. The organization’s leadership should incorporate the use of data analytics into the organization’s custom to promote trust and faith in the use of data-driven insights in decision-making processes (Setyowati et al., 2021). The adoption of data-driven knowledge in clinical operations can lead to desirable patient outcomes such as increased satisfaction and reduction of costs.
