Discussion: MHA5016 Capella Stakeholder Communication in Health Information Systems Paper
Question Description
Use the Stakeholder Matrix Template to complete an analysis of relevant stakeholders in the organization in relation to recommendations made in your first assessment regarding an organization’s EHR or HIM systems. You will also be required to write a 3-5-page report outlining your stakeholder analysis and suggesting potential ways to gain buy-in and overcome barriers to implementing your recommendations.
Health information technology and electronic health records (EHR) can be overwhelming to health care professionals in any organization. As technology advances, so do the difficulties. A significant challenge for managers is gaining end-user acceptance of the health information management (HIM) system (staff). It is critical for health care executives to understand who the stakeholders are and what best practices help build consensus for the positive use of HIM technology throughout the organization. You will have the opportunity to evaluate common stakeholders in relation to HIM systems during this assessment. In addition, you will research and explain the best practices for ensuring a smooth transition from implementation to end-user experience. Managers must understand the concepts of efficient resource allocation if they are to provide a seamless end-user experience. To do so, health care managers must understand how HIM affects each and every stakeholder.
Competency 1: Implement a health information system that improves operations and patient outcomes using emerging models or best practices. (L8.4, L12.2, L14.3) You will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria by successfully completing this assessment:
Explain the methodology used to generate recommendations for a health information management system.
Create value statements for key stakeholders in relation to critical success factors and recommendations for a health information management system.
Analyze administrative, clinical, management, and decision-support information technology tools (competency 2). (L12.1, 12.2, 14.3) Identify the stakeholders involved in an impact analysis.
Describe a timetable for implementing health information management system recommendations.
Competency 3: Apply best practices in financial assessments and decisions related to health information system implementation. (L 8.1, 8.2, 8.4) Examine how recommendations affect relevant stakeholders and an organization in terms of patient outcomes, new training, resource allocation, and workflow changes.
Competency 4: Use evidence to persuade all stakeholders to buy in. (L10.5) Examine best practices for overcoming barriers to stakeholder buy-in and recommendation implementation.
Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with expectations for professionals in health care administration. (L6.1, L6.2, L6.3, and L6.4)

The manager will not only be in charge of the existing system but should also work toward implementation of new systems.
The implementation and use of Electronic Health Record will provide a solution of coordination issues and information sharing challenges. The current Electronic Health Record staff is responsible for overseeing the EHR so as to guarantee Villa health that the information/ data of their patients are safe(Séroussi, Jaulent, Lehmann, 2015). A new manager is needed to be included in all systems of Villa health, which will also require additional payments for training them about the new system. Moreover, office space will require to be increased and equipment that will be used by the newly hired manager. Furthermore, Villa health Centre will also need to have awareness regarding all expenses that will be potentially incurred and benefits realizable. The adjustments made will be made in the report of the tax year as well as the fiscal year. Because of the cost incurred, the first year will reflect no return because of cost used in the implementation. The positive impact of implementing the system will be realized in future years. This is because the organization will benefit from the operation in the long run. To ensure that profits are recognized in the future, it’s crucial to Villa Health to ensure that the right person is hired to bring positive impacts to the organization.
Therefore, it’s crucial to take the hiring process with a lot of concern. Ensuring that the right person is employed will help villa health from incurring additional cost or experiencing an adverse outcome.
