NR 531 Week 1 Discussion Question 1, Servant Leadership

In NR-531 Week 1, we discussed the role of servant leadership in organizations and how to be an effective servant leader. This model is based on the idea that a servant leader creates a service desire in others. We looked at the Case Study Background Information and the Mission and Vision. As a result, we developed a more comprehensive understanding of servant leadership as a management style.

There are various theories of leadership. Aristotle and Senge both posited the importance of a servant mindset. The theory survived from Aristotle all the way to Stogdill (1974), which developed the concept of the superior few. The concept of servant leadership is based on the idea that people are born with certain traits. The best leaders are those who are selfless and strive for the benefit of others.

In order to understand the characteristics of a servant leader, students need to analyze the characteristics of servant leaders. There are many theories that support and challenge the concept of servant leadership. For example, Russell, R.F. (1999), studied the attributes of servant leadership. In Organization Development Journal, 22(2): 76-83, Safizadeh, M.H., a manufacturing operations management professor, explored the role of servant leaders in manufacturing companies.

Despite its controversial nature, servant leadership is a vital management practice in organizations today. This method of leadership combines various processes. The leaders in a particular organization are called leaders and their followers are called followers. Depending on the context, servant leadership can take on various roles. In this way, it is a flexible, yet effective means of facilitating the work of others. It is also a way to help people improve their lives and the well-being of others.

The characteristics of a servant leader are highly flexible and can be applied in a wide range of settings. Some examples of servant leaders include those in a rural community, a small business, and a nonprofit. In other cases, servant leaders may be the most effective leaders in a diverse organization. In addition, it is important to remember that a servant leader is an effective servant in the workplace.

The characteristics of a servant leader are similar to those of a leader in a traditional business setting. However, the key distinguishing characteristics of a servant leader are: – A servant leader is a person who cares for others. Their actions and words are motivated by the needs of others. They will be motivated to do what is right in the interests of others. If they are happy with their jobs, they will do good things for others.

A servant leader has the capacity to serve others. Their efforts are directed by a higher purpose. The leader is a servant and will not seek personal recognition. The leader will serve the people in the organization. The servant leader will lead by example and encourage people to be the same. This servant leader will also serve their followers by empowering them. The result of the leader is an effective team. It will empower its employees to accomplish more.

The characteristics of servant leadership are diverse. Those who are servants are not only genuinely helpful, but they are also willing to share their resources and skills with others. The servant leader is an excellent example of a servant leader because they will never have to ask for permission to serve others. As a result, a servant leader is a servant leader. They will be a role model and an inspiration to others.

A servant leader is someone who focuses on helping others. They do not seek personal recognition. They focus on providing a service for the organization and not on focusing on self. They do not prioritize the needs of others and are committed to meeting the needs of other people. They have a servant’s mindset. It is a model of leadership. The servant leader is not selfish. Rather, he is a servant who cares for others.

NR 531 Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Organizations

Week 1 Discussion

Organizational Structures

Discuss the organizational structure that you, as the nurse administrator for SLMC, believe would be most appropriate. Use a specific organizational theory to support your decision and discuss how this structure may impact the organization’s outcomes.

There is no word count for threaded discussions and there is only one discussion per week. This is different from what you are used to in your core courses.  Please see discussion guidelines and rubric below.

NR531 Case Study Background Information (Links to an external site.)

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLASS

Discussion Questions (DQ)

Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words.

Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source.

One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words.

I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses.

Weekly Participation

Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately.

In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies.

Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work).

Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week.

APA Format and Writing Quality

Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required).

Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation.

I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.

Use of Direct Quotes

I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly.

As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content.

It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.

Lopes Write Policy

For assignments that need to be submitted to Lopes Write, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.

Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.

Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?

Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.

Late Policy

The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.

Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.

If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.

I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.

As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.

Communication

Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me:

Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class.

Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours.

NR531 Week 1 Discussion Question 2, Organizational Structures

In this assignment, you will learn about three different types of organizational structures. These structures can be either formal or informal. The structure of an organization is determined by its purpose, its members, and its setting. An organization is made up of three elements that contribute to its function: governance, decision-making, and resources. All of these elements are integral to the functioning of an organisation. Whether the rules are explicit or implicit, the organization must have rules for operating.

The first discussion question in NR 531 focuses on organizational structure. This assignment is graded, so you must be clear about the decision you are making. If you’re using a specific organizational theory to support your decision, you’ll be able to explain how this structure impacts the outcome of an organization. If you’re using a generic organizational structure, you can still use the discussion question in a meaningful way.

NR531 Week 1 Discussion Question 2 – What types of organizational structures do organizations have? Whether a structure is formal or informal, an organization’s structure can make or break its effectiveness. Choosing the right structure can be critical in achieving organizational goals. As an administrator, you need to carefully consider each type of structure and how it affects the organization’s outcomes. The key is to make sure you have thought about the structure before forming the organization.

The final assignment, the NR531 Week 1 Discussion Question 2, requires you to identify and articulate a leadership theory, and then compare organizational structures. When comparing organizational structures, it is important to provide both scholarly and empirical evidence. The quality of your information is the most important aspect of your paper. Standard English grammar, sentence structure, and organization are also important in your paper. You should also include at least one reference, a minimum of three, and cite all your sources.

NR531 Week 1 Discussion Question 2 – This discussion question requires you to explain and discuss the differences between organizational structures. While describing the differences between organizational structures, you should cite specific theories that support your decision. Throughout the course, you should also discuss the implications of your decision and the benefits or disadvantages of your decision. Your NR531 Discussion Question 2 paper must be written in Standard English and must be well-organized and include citations.

This discussion question is graded and should be addressed with a clear discussion of organizational structure. The structure of an organization should be clear and concise, and the structure should be based on a particular theory. The final goal of this assignment is to understand how the organizational structure influences the outcomes of an organization. In addition, the assignment should have a strong thesis statement. The course is designed to help students develop their own ideas and opinions.

The purpose of this discussion is to provide insight into the nature of an organization. The structure of an organization determines the success of an organization. To learn about organizational structures, you should study the objectives of a particular organization. If you have a specific mission, you should use the mission of the organization. You will also need to know the goals of your stakeholders. When you have a clear mission statement, you will be better equipped to make decisions and implement your goals.

The objective of this assignment is to discuss leadership theories and compare organizational structures. The paper should be well-written, and use scholarly sources to support your points. The quality of the paper should be appropriate for the assignment. The writing must be properly structured. It should include all of the relevant information in a proper manner. For example, it should be able to provide a thorough overview of the various theories.

You should think about the structure before you start an organization. Consider the existing organizational structure of the organization. This will help you in the long run. It will also help you to plan for the future of the organization. You should take into account the needs of your customers and ensure that your employees are happy with the work they do. You should have a clear idea about your goals and your staff.

Plagiarism is highly prohibited. Please ensure you are citing your sources correctly using APA 7th edition. All assignments including discussion posts should be formatted in APA with the appropriate spacing, font, margin, and indents. Any papers not well formatted would be returned back to you, hence, I advise you review APA formatting style. I have attached a sample paper in APA format and will also post sample discussion responses in subsequent announcements.

Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!
