NRNP 6645 Week 8 Assignment: psychotherapy with multiple modalities
NRNP 6645 Week 8 Assignment: psychotherapy with multiple modalities
Just as each fingerprint is unique, each individual client, group, or population will also have unique characteristics that should be considered when formulating a treatment plan. For example, when working with children, it is important to recognize that children and adolescents are not mini adults and should not be treated as such. When working with clients presenting with addictive disorders, trauma, or personality disorders, clinicians must appreciate the effects and complications that these conditions will have on the psychotherapeutic process. As a result of the general complexities of special populations, strong therapeutic relationships are essential to success, and clinicians must also be willing to ensure that they are able to be aware of and competent with diverse types of clients.

Addictive disorders can be particularly challenging for clients. Not only do these disorders typically interfere with a clients ability to function in daily life, but they also often manifest as negative and sometimes criminal behaviors. Sometime clients with addictive disorders also suffer from other mental health issues, creating even greater struggles for them to overcome. In your role, you have the opportunity to help clients address their addictions and improve outcomes for both the clients and their families.
