EBP Strategies
I have acquired significant knowledge and skills on evidence-based practice from the course. As a result, I will utilize the evidence-based strategies that I have learned in advancing my nursing practice. One of the strategies of evidence-based practice that I will utilize in my practice is critical analysis of the existing sources of evidence to inform my practice. I will make my decisions about the care that the patients need based on the best available clinical evidence (Ellis, 2019). I will base my decisions on best sources of clinical evidence that promote safety, quality, and efficiency in care.
The other strategy that I will utilize in my practice is the development of other staffs to ensure the effective use of evidence-based practice solutions in the provision of nursing care. Nurses should be equipped with knowledge and skills of utilizing evidence-based practice in their daily lives. I will therefore advocate the provision of training opportunities to the nurses on the ways of implementing evidence-based practice in our settings. I will also advocate the creation of an enabling environment in the workplace where the use of evidence-based data is encouraged (Jolley, 2020). I will also advocate the provision of coaching and mentorship opportunities for the staffs on the implementation of evidence-based practice in our setting.
The last strategy that I will incorporate into my practice from the knowledge gained in this course is eliminating barriers to evidence-based practice in my practice setting. I will apply the knowledge I have learned in the course on the strategies to address barriers to evidence-based practice in my setting. This will include the use of strategies such as active staff participation, training, provision of reading materials concerning the change, and aligning evidence-based practices with the mission of the organization to facilitate its success (LoBiondo-Wood, Haber & Titler, 2018). Therefore, I believe that these strategies will enable me be the champion of evidence-based practice in my organization.
